Having been asked to write about Old Stables.
I believe this an ideal time to start a Blog!
Alyth is at the foot of the Grampian Mountains bordering Perthshire
and the Angus Glens.
The Den of Alyth a SSSI is a beautiful wooded walk taking
anything up to a couple of hours.
Glenshee is our local ski area approximately 40 mins drive.
There are several Munros that can be skied in winter and climbed
during more favourable months.
Glenisla offers cross country skiing when conditions are favourable.
Excellent walks can be found from outside the door and by driving a few
miles into Glen Isla where you'll find a great hotel restaurant, pony camps
and trekking by arrangement.
In Glen Clova it is possible to walk all or part of Jocks Road to Braemar.
Three miles from here is Reekie Linn an outstanding waterfall.
Although the under foot conditions must be treated with care!
Just beyond this and on the road to Lintrathen is the Peel cafe and craft barn
where regular demonstration of various crafts are held during the year!
Well worth a visit.
We have a new bike pump track for beginners and experienced riders.
Three miles out of town is a woodland skill centre where craftsmen
produce magnificent works of art.
As a director of visiteastperthshire our local tourist board,
I've been involved in the  'World Jampionships' which has proved to
be such a success that it has moved on to private sponsorship.
In town we have a Classic Car business although not open to the public
many of these old vehicles can be seen in Alyth.
We have three golf courses in town and very many within a short drive with the
Junior Ryder Cup having been played here in 2014.

We are situated on The Cateran Trail, a circular five night serviced walk
which can commence at any point on the walk.

During the late 1980s I spent some time at Glamis Castle,
the childhood home of HRH the Late Queen Elizabeth,
Queen Mother under 8 miles from Old Stables.
As well as arranging flowers for visitors to the castle and for weddings,
I have told of my experience in arranging fresh flowers for the birthday of the Dowager Countess
some years ago when H.R.H Princess Margaret was a guest.
I often had problems, while the castle was deserted in not being able
to find my way around the back stairs into certain rooms-:)
No unfortunately I never did meet the ghost!

Our American guests liken them to their Condominium

Things to do

Large family holiday cottages Scotland - both houses sleep up to 9 persons.
This area was originally farmed by The Laird Low - hence the name.
The Reed - where the cattle ran.
The Toftin - ground that was once ploughed.

For thirty years this was where Bill had his garage business renovating and selling cars.
The reason there are many old vehicles - cars, bikes, engines and tractors in varying states
of restoration.
The Gunsmith tractor, Singer and Alfa-spider having won show prizes.
